Bobby and Ed have played for 30+ years together.  Drawing on that experience, Phoenix plays everything from the early days of rock n’ roll, classic rock, disco, new wave, country and blues, including the artists of today. Jim Buehl joined the band in 1990. Along with Jim, Phoenix toured around the Southland backing Eddie Powers, a premier Las Vegas Elvis performer.  In 1997 they were the Southern California Country Music Association’s  drummer, bass player and guitarist of the year. That same year Phoenix was voted CCMA’s “Best Band” and “Best Vocal Group” of the year.  The versatility of the band is showcased by the variety of music they have played. Now, with the added talents of John “Saxmo” Legge, Phoenix has evolved into San Diego’s most versatile dance band.
